It’s a fact that slow motion will make anything more interesting to look at, and the new video for “Chained” by The xx is a prime example of this. Shot entirely at a swimming pool, directing team Young Replicant manage to convey more with less, as The xx do with their minimal sound. “Chained” is from the album, Coexist, available now on Young Turks.
Watch the video for “Yet Again” from Grizzly Bears’ new album, Shields. You may first think it’s simply about figure skating, but director Emily Kai Bock takes the narrative in a strange and interesting direction. Shields is available now on Warp Records.
Watch a behind the scenes documentary on Stop the Virgens, Karen O’s epic psycho-opera that premiered in New York in October of last year. I didn’t get a chance to see it, but I found this interesting regardless. Presented by The Creators Project.
A couple of months back I came across this video for “Get it In” by Korean Hip-Hop star Tasha Reid (AKA Yoon Mi-Rae of Drunken Tiger) through The Creators Project website. I’m not a fan of the music but visually it’s quite stunning, recalling the famous Crazy 88 fight scene from Tarantino’s Kill Bill. Directed by Lumpens.
